Josh's Downtown Denver Senior Photos

Last night I had the chance to meet up with Josh and his parents, Lisa and Ed, for his senior portrait session in Downtown Denver. The evening didn’t exactly start the way we expected. About an hour before our shoot, Lisa texted me with concerns about the weather — and for good reason. When I looked outside, it was absolutely pouring.

I checked my weather app (and maybe questioned my meteorology skills a little), but it showed the worst of the storm was moving north. So I loaded up my gear and made the 30-minute drive into the city, windshield wipers working the whole way.
When I arrived, it was still raining. I sat in my car watching the drops on the windows and started thinking through backup options. But then — almost like a switch — the rain stopped just ten minutes before Josh and his family arrived. The clouds broke, the light shifted, and Downtown Denver gave us an incredible backdrop. After the storm, the city comes alive: deeper greens in the trees, richer colors in the brick, even reflections in the streets. It was perfect.
Walking around downtown with Josh was a blast. One of my favorite things about senior sessions is getting to know my seniors and hearing their stories. With Josh, one word kept coming to mind on the drive home: resilient.
Josh has faced some tough health challenges over the years, and listening to his journey left me genuinely inspired. His strength and kindness stood out in every conversation. Honestly, he’s one of the kindest young men I’ve met in a long time — the type of senior who makes this work so rewarding.

For guys especially, Downtown Denver is an amazing spot for senior photos. The variety of backgrounds — from sleek urban lines to colorful textures — gives us so many looks within a short walk. The energy of the city helps ease nerves and makes the session feel more relaxed and natural.
Josh absolutely crushed his session, and I can’t wait to share the full gallery with him and his family.
